Silently show your thanks and appreciation to Royal Wootton Bassett

With Repatriations moving away from RAF Lyneham at the end of August 2011 we will no longer see the people of Wootton Bassett representing us all so humbly and with so much dignity as our fallen heroes come home.

The town itself has been officially recognised by Her Majesty the Queen bestowing the title ‘Royal’.

The Royal Wootton Bassett Teardrop has been created by Wiltshire people as a not-for-profit project for 2011 with profits being donated to the Royal British Legion and other forces charities.

This is our opportunity as a nation to show our appreciation and gratitude to everyone connected with these repatriations. From the Royal British Legion members who come from Royal Wootton Bassett and beyond; to the bell ringer who has rung the tenor bell for every repatriation for 4 years; to the school children who have stood on the roadside; to the members of the public who just felt the need to be there. For 4 years this has been happening week in week out, no fuss, no glamour.
