2 RIFLES are currently in Afghanistan on a seven month tour of duty.
As Wives and Girlfriends of serving Soldiers, counting down the days and checking calendars until they come home from their tour of duty has become a part of everyday life.
So we thought a good way to show our support, raise money for our injured troops and have a bit of fun, was to get together and create a calendar!
We had a great day dressing in 1940's themed costumes and, with a fantastic photographer Jai McFerran, who generously donated his services for free, we created some truly unique photographs . With more expertise, again kindly donated, our graphic designer Paul Boal put the photographs together to create this amazing calendar, all in aid of supporting our troops!!
This calendar will help raise funds for The Rifles Regimental Trust, Swift and Bold, and the Care for Casualties fund. Monies raised are used in the short term to provide much needed immediate support and assistance for the families, girlfriends and boyfriends of the dead and wounded in those devastating first hours and days after a tragedy. In the medium and long term excess funds are used by the Rifles Regimental Trust to fund meaningful projects for the wounded and their families.
The bottom line is that our soldiers risk their lives and bodies on our behalf and we need to do everything we can to support them and show appreciation of their sacrifices.
The Swift and Bold Wristband Appeals are used to provide much needed immediate support and assistance for the families, girlfriends and boyfriends of the dead and wounded in those devastating first hours and days after a tragedy.
